Vision of the future

Not to separate the individual from the community. By using "Best Practices", allows spiritual, psychological and scientific methods in our quest to help residents and the community to aspire to excellence in their quest for recovery from addiction.


Assessment - Meeting with counselor to jointly develop an assessment profile and treatment plan.

Therapeutic Community - Meetings where residents participate in directed decision making regarding self-government, self-care and social skills.

Morning Meditation - A Meditation experience, six days each week; residents separate themselves from destructive stress and develop inner strength for self-management and positive productive social interactions.

Education Sessions - One hour lectures three-days each week with question and answer sessions covering the topics associated with alcohol and drug addiction and recovery management.

Intensive Group Sessions - A mid-afternoon session four times each week focusing on the 12-step process, individual progress in the program and related issues.

Employment Resource Development - A weekly seminar with a specialist, contracted by Khepera, to provide information and training for the development of skills necessary for success in the workplace.

Support Group Sessions - Support groups, four days each week, where peers, paraprofessionals and graduates interact to develop positive community relationships and strategies to assist in maintaining a state of recovery and reentering the community mainstream, negotiating transitions, surviving addiction, relapse prevention, and managing emotional needs.

Family Group Sessions - Family and friends meet in weekly support sessions focusing on support for the residents' successful continued management of recovery, reintegration into the community mainstream and recovery of the family unit.

Structured Recreation Experiences - Weekly transportation to local areas of interest include fitness centers, yoga, bowling, movies, art, music, and drama.

Twelve-Step Meetings - Four twelve step meetings each week focus on introduction to and maintenance of the 12-step method of managing alcohol and drug addiction recovery.

Individual Counseling - Weekly private sessions with a counselor, including review and updating of treatment goals and the discussion of issues specific to the individual resident.

Case Management - The case of each resident is reviewed, weekly, with special focus on the progress of the resident with respect to his treatment contract. Factors in the review include urine analysis screening, medication monitoring, file management and general overview of progress.

Contingency Management - System that promotes intrinsic motivation. Residents have an opportunity to be awarded recognition merits for peer driven group attendance, with an emphasis on time management, peer driven group participation, and chore participation. Attitudes and behaviors are also recognized.

Referral to community resources - Residents may be referred to a number of helping agencies providing support beyond the Khepera mission, such as mental and physical health agencies, legal assistance providers, consumer credit counselors, and others.
